Server Back On!

Hey guys,
We've got the server back up and running with the new 1.0.1 update just in time for the break! :) We also put in a new map (because the other one wasn't very good, and so it would build some of the cool new things) to use, so I hope we can make the best of it. If anyone has a suggestion or an issue, please don't hesitate to tell.

Server Offline At Least Temporarily

Hey guys,
I'm sorry to tell you all that we have recently had some problems with Ethernet wiring for the server and as a result, it will be offline until we can get a new cord for it. We may, however, keep it off until there is renewed interest in it. I know everyone is swamped with school so it is understandable. We are sorry for the bad timing with thanksgiving right around the corner and everything. I will post when we get it online again.

Updated to 1.8.1

Hey guys,
We updated the server to 1.8.1 a few days ago and I think we have got everything figured out. As Jerm suggested, we took most of the Bukkit mods out so it is a traditional SMP server again. Log on when you have some spare time to check everything out and make sure its working how you want it. A lot of cool stuff was added in 1.8.1. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please let us know. I hope you've had a great school year so far and thanks for the patience,

Thoughts from Jerm

Hey guys, Jerm here,

Unfortunately the new school year has started, and as a result the Minecraft server has had very little use. That, coupled with the fact that 1.8 is now out and the server is outdated means that very few people will be playing. Therefore it is my idea that we put the map in storage for now, and maybe start over with a smaller, survival server just to hold us over until Winter break or next Summer. A little survival server may breath some more life into our little gaming group for now. I will be discussing this with Keenick and Nornick whenever I can catch them on Skype. Thank you to all of our players for the awesome summer of Minecraft, and I hope to see you on whatever server we decide to set up next.

Server Maintenance Days

The server hosts will be back from vacation on Tuesday. When we get back, we will be attempting to fix the server so that it is not so laggey. We hope to have the problem fixed by Friday. Sorry for the inconveince.

Update on Server Status 7/31/2011

Sorry everyone, there seems to be a problem with the server causing massive lag then eventual crashing after a few hours of server uptime. Unfortunately this sort of thing always seems to happen when our server hosts are out of town. Hopefully we can get this thing sorted out within the next two days and come back with an update.

Also just a quick note, make sure you are not updating your clients to 1.8 until the server can be updated. If you do then you will not be able to join the server for a week or two. I know, it's so tempting when that little update question comes up!

Nether Lost ;-(

While doing some stuff on the server computer, our cat stepped on the keyboard and (somehow) crashed the computer. Unfortunately, we lost the nether as a result because it wasn't being backed up ;-(. We are sorry for anything you may have lost, and you will be glad to know that the nether is now being backed up.

Hey guys,

We're doing some work on the server today so it may be on and off. Feel free to get on, but the server may turn off at random. Don't worry about losing your stuff, we are saving everything. Sorry for the inconvenience,

New Plugins

We just put in two plugins that make the server's time and weather the same as it is outside. So if it is raining outside, it will be raining in the game. This also means that admins wont be able to change time and weather anymore.

Ok guys,
The server has been updated to 1.7.2, so that means you all can update your Minecraft without worry. This new update is going to be fun with the addition of the piston. Thanks for waiting!

Server Will Be Down Until Further Notice

Sorry guys, the server hosts had to go out of town again leaving the server with an autostartup program. Unfortunately something has happened in which the actual server program does not load on startup. Therefore we will not be able to connect until the serverhosts get back in town. Thejermfel will attempt to fix the problem if we manage to get the remote login software working, but chances are I won't be able to fix anything. Really sorry about this, but it is what it is. I will try to contact Keenick and Nornick in the mean time.

Server Loss of Data

Hey guys, during a recent storm, the power in my house flickered and it really messed with the server. Basicallly, it caused the chunked in memory to be randomly dumped in the world, resulting in a mixed up world. Parts of town were across the map. We were forced to go to a map backup that was made a few hours earlyer. Another power outage caused the server to be off for an hour or so after the first one. We're really sorry about these inconviences, and we hope this wont ever be an issue again.

Do NOT Update Clients

Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying the new server. Currently there is a lot of talk about the next Minecraft update (1.7) coming out. It should be out sometime within the next week or so. Once it comes you will be greeted with a menu that asks whether or not you would like to update, say no. This allows you to still play on the server until we are able to update the minecraft build on the actual server. If you select update before we have updated the server you will not be able to play for a while.

Bukkit build is up and running!

Our server wrapper bukkit, just came out with an updated build, we are going to start testing it on the temporary server and will be playing with some different things.

The server is up and running on thejermfel's hardware. Everything seems to be working so far and the player cap is at 4. The ip address is the same as before. I will figure out a routine for turning on the server as time goes on. Unfortunately these next few days will be a little bit crazy, however I will try to keep it up as much as possible. Server Officially Off (Mostly)

Hey guys,
The server is now officially been shut down. If you happen to be able to log on in the next two weeks, its because we are testing something or Thejermfel has been able to get the server up for a bit. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but the people that upkeep the server software are having problems so they wont have an update for a while. I assure you, though, as soon as they do, the server will be up and running as normal. Again, at the moment, the server will not be on for two weeks, unless Thejermfel says otherwise and has turned it back on. (He hopes to have it on some parts of the day.)

Update on temporary server

The temporary server that thejermfel has looked into hosting will be a bit shaky and not on very often. Unfortunately due to various constraints the server will only be able to be on during the later afternoon. Although this may be a bit inconvenient it beats having no server at all. We will be using the current map on the temporary server, however starting some giant project is not exactly recommended due to the fact that we will be restarting on a new map soon. Also there is the problem of a pretty slow connection speed on the network. Further testing must be done, however it should hold up to 3,4 people possibly. This means if the server gets full then you will not be able to join. It shouldn't be too much of a problem however with three of the players leaving for the duration of the temporary server. Server Down

Currently the server will be down for about the next two weeks 5/29-6/12. We will be completely restarting the server with new mods, permissions, and a new map. Another reason the server is down, is because there was an update to Minecraft. This means that our server wrapper (Bukkit) won't work until they make a new update. More details will arrive later once the server admins decide what exactly is going to happen. In the mean time thejermfel will be looking into hosting the old map from time to time until our server is back up and running. The incident about the burned down house and other offenses have been forgotten for now. No one will be banned. Once the new server is up and running with clearly defined rules, violators of these new rules will be punished accordingly. We will also be changing the name of the server to Old Oak Server in honor of our first Minecraft town that was burned and blasted off the map by our fellow gamers :) Check here for more news here in the future.
